Safety

At Jim Smith Contracting, we believe in safety first.

The health and well-being of our employees is our number one priority. Our commitment to safety is reflected by our impeccable track record and safety awards. We adhere to a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy.

We hold annual safety classes for returning employees and a comprehensive safety orientation class for all new hires. Each jobsite conducts a weekly toolbox safety meeting as required by regulations and standards in our industry.

We have contracted with a local safety consulting firm to assist with all aspects of construction safety and ensure our worksites are safe. Our crews practice the motto of “safety first” on every project.  All Jim Smith Contracting work zones are set up in accordance with state specifications and MUTCD for federal highways.

Jim Smith Contracting enforces rigorous safety policies including mandatory safety training for all employees, weekly safety meetings, daily equipment inspections, certified cranes and NCCO crane operators, and stringent fall protection policies according to the latest in fall protection and personal protective equipment (PPE).
